New Cyber Malware Targetting Lebanon

A new trojan, named Gauss is targetting the middle east and Lebanon specifically.

It is related to the stuxnet and flame malware previously discussed and is of the same nature. The trojan has been on the loose since september 2011... It currently can NOT send any information out of the infected pcs as its command center is dormant since july 2012. Yet no-one knows when it can go live again.

So far information is still limited, but the trojan seems to search directly for any information related to Bank of beirut, blom bank, byblos bank, citi bank, eblf and fransabank amongst other general searches like hotmail amd yahoo and facebook. This proves that the target ia mostly Lebanon.

Users with kaspersky antivirus can scan their systems to ensure that the trojan Has not infected their systems. Other antivirus companies have not yet published any news on whether they can detect the trojan or not.

I will update this blog with further information as soon as it is available.
